Wahakura Rīwā

The Wahakura Rīwā can be sent to Australia and some other countries around the world. Please check with the destination country about their customs requirements before purchasing.

Air your Wahakura Rīwā weekly - remove bedding and mattress, and stand in a place with good airflow.

 

If anything spills on it, wipe off with a damp cloth and dry immediately.

 

If mould appears, brush off with a stiff brush and wipe with a water/white vinegar solution, then dry immediately.

 

Mattress should be firm and thin. It should fit your Wahakura Rīwā snuggly and have no gaps around the edges that baby could slip down and become stuck.

 

Do not add more padding, or any other accessories including toys.

 

When not in use, store empty in a dry space. Do not wrap in plastic.

 

Encourage these safe sleep principals - every sleep, every time!

 

P Place baby in his or her own baby bed

E Eliminate smoking in pregnancy, in the whanau and in the home

P Position baby on his or her back to sleep

E Encourage and support mum so baby is breastfed

 

The Wahakura Rīwā is a separate safe sleeping device for newborns up to 6 month olds, that can be co-slept in their parents bed. Baby should have their own blankets, and not share their parents blankets.

 

Take it everywhere you go and you know your baby has it's own safe sleeping space - every sleep, every time!

 

It is not a carrying device, so it is encouraged to transport the wahakura without baby in it.
